Trilateral Conference and Trilateral Industry Meeting 2017

The heads of the European Patent Office (EPO), the Japan Patent Office (JPO), and the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), met in Seville, Spain on 30 March 2017. Celebrating 35 years of their co-operation and of being at the forefront of international patent co-operation and work-sharing, the Trilateral Heads of Office signed a Memorandum of Understanding pledging to continue discussions on patent harmonisation with industry in the Trilateral regions, improve their services to users further by exploring more secure and user-friendly options for priority document exchange, and support further developments in the IP5 Global Dossier project.

The 35th meeting of the Trilateral Heads of Office was preceded by a meeting between the offices and industry associations from the three regions, where the Trilateral Industry representatives reported on their work on patent harmonisation and gave feedback on a number of IP5 initiatives.
