The JPO offers a highly successful machine translation service for Japanese patent documents and corresponding office actions, the so-called AIPN (Advanced Industrial Property Network).
Similarly the EPO is currently in the process of developing and installing a machine translation service for translating patent documents from a national language of the EPO into English and vice-versa using the so-called EMTP (European Machine Translation Programme).
The Offices exchange their respective experiences with machine translation, which also provides feedback to the AIPN with regard to terminology used.
