Electronic business, data standardization and networks

The further harmonisation of e-business tools is of major benefit to IP offices around the world in supporting various procedural steps.

In the field of automation the combined efforts of the three Offices to develop common data standards and electronic tools have increased efficiency and reduced the operating costs.

The Offices are currently focusing on developing the following e-tools:

  • on line filing;
  • electronic exchange of priority documents;
  • access of information on trilateral dossiers (filed applications and respective search reports)
  • secure virtual private network, named TRINet (Trilateral Network) to securely transfer priority data with each other and other patent authorities.
